BUTTERCREAM
Lather a light coating of white buttercream on top of the cupcake.
For the sand: Dip the cupcake into the graham cracker crumbs until it covers the buttercream.
For the waves: Set up the piping bag with the petal piping tip and light blue buttercream. Starting in the center of the cupcake, pipe a line of ruffles and make your way across to the outer edge. Overlap the lines of ruffles until half of your cupcake is full of waves. Then place a topper on each cupcake!
STARFISH
STEP 1:
Roll out a small amount of orange Fondant about ¼” thick and cut out a star.
STEP 2:
Create a light orange color by combining 2 parts white Fondant with 1 part orange Fondant.
STEP 3:
Roll 15 very small balls out of the light orange color. Attach 3 of the balls down each point on the star. Lightly press down when attaching the balls to form small circles.
STEP 4:
Take a small amount of white Fondant and form two small balls. Take an even smaller amount of black Fondant and form two smaller balls. Lightly press down on each ball to slightly flatten to create a circle.
STEP 5:
Attach the eyes to the starfish.
OCTOPUS
STEP 1:
Create a light pink color by combining 2 parts white Fondant with 1 part pink Fondant.
STEP 2:
For the Body: take some of the light pink fondant and form a ball. Slightly taper one end of the ball so it’s a bit more narrow than the top. Flatten the bottom so it stands upright.
STEP 3:
For the tentacles, form 8 small balls from the light pink Fondant. Roll each ball into a skinny log. Curl the ends of one side of each log. With a small amount of water, attach the logs together in a circular shape with the curled edges facing out.
STEP 4:
With a small amount of water, adhere the body to the tentacles.
STEP 5:
Take a small amount of white Fondant and form two small balls. Take an even smaller amount of black Fondant and form two smaller balls. Lightly press down on each ball to slightly flatten to create a circle. Attach the black circles onto the white. Add a small spec of white on top of each black circle.
STEP 6:
Attach the eyes to the Octopus.
CRAB
STEP 1:
For the body: Form a small ball of red Fondant. Slightly flatten the ball and stand it upright.
STEP 2:
For the legs: Roll 6 small balls and attach 3 to each side of the crabs body.
STEP 3:
For the Claws: Roll 2 slightly larger balls and flatten them a bit. Cut a skinny triangle out of each.
STEP 4:
Attach the claws to the top of the crab.
STEP 5:
Take a small amount of white Fondant and form two small balls. Take an even smaller amount of black Fondant and form two smaller balls. Lightly press down on each ball to slightly flatten to create a circle. Attach the black circles onto the white.
STEP 6:
Attach the yellow log as the ring for the orange planet and the red log as the ring for the blue planet.
