2020 Cake Of The Month 2 19

Describe the cake, details and techniques:

I used thinly rolled Satin Ice fondant and tools to make each piece look like a flower petal. I left it to harden up on the table and after it became a little stiff, I applied layer by layer on the 3 tier cake.

What is the inspiration for this winning cake?

A lot of my cake inspiration comes from clothing by couture designers. I love dressing up and following the fashion trends. So this cake was inspired by Iris van Herpen designs and beautiful pale pink rose flowers.

How much time did you spend creating this cake?

I aim for each of my cakes to wow the crowd and look mesmerizing. I also have a vision of how particular each of them should look. I take a while mixing and matching colors then layering petal after petal to achieve the flow. This particular piece took me 9 hours.

What do you do while you work?

I usually listen to audio books or talk to mum or sister overseas - often discussing my next projects
