Satin Ice Cake of the Month:
Linasari Sunyoto
Name: Linasari Sunyoto - Italy
Education: Visual Communication Design
Business name: Sweetlin
Describe the cake, details and techniques:
I used a lot of hand painting technique to make this cake and mostly for the decoration of this cake. I used Satin Ice gum paste to make the flowers, the fabric on the centerpiece, the top decoration and the plates.
What is the inspiration for this winning cake?
My cake is inspired by Guo Pei and Li Xiao Feng Avant-Garde ceramic dresses - but I also put another element of my personal design in between to make the harmony of the cake. I added blue peonies on the top to make the cake prettier. Usually in Chinese culture, there are a lot of peonies. I also modified the color to match it with the ceramic color.

How much time did you spend creating this cake?
I made this cake in 5 days. I needed to make sure all the fabric center pieces, the plates, the top part and flowers dried first and were sturdy before I put them on the cake.
What do you do while you work?
Usually I concentrate really hard with my cake. I study my printing design while I work and think about adding or changing something from my original design idea. I always work with a computer to design the cake and always print it out before starting.
Congratulations Linasari!
