Mary Carmen Gonzalez is the owner and instructor of Young Chefs Academy and MCG Cake Design in San Antonio, Texas. Born and raised in Mexico City, she started decorating cakes for her children and from there she discovered a love for the food industry. After excelling in all her decorating classes, del Rio joined the Culinary Institute of America to get her Certificate in Culinary Arts.
With over 15 years of experience in decorating and designing cakes, Mary Carmen has had the blessed opportunity to learn from the best. She has taken classes from some of the best in the industry including: Debbie Brown, Ron-Ben Israel, James Roselle, Lauren Kitchens, Mike McCarey, Mercedes Strachwsky and many more.
For the last few years, she has been on the move demonstrating how to decorate cakes with fondant for Satin Fine Foods in the U.S and internationally.
One of her greatest accomplishments to date has been assisting Jay Qualls in the making and decorating of Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton's wedding cake. She has appeared on the Food Network and her cakes have been published in The American Cake Magazine twice.
