About Heidi Holmon
For Heidi Holmon, the world around her is a canvas on which to create something beautiful. She would say this is because she is first and foremost, an artist. Whether it is cake artistry, photography, or graphic design, she loves creating beauty in all areas of her expertise. Originally from England, Heidi immigrated to the United States at the age of 18, and after receiving a degree in graphic design, spent the next 15 years working in that field. This talented graphic designer naturally progressed into photography, and in 2010, began her journey as a self-taught cake designer.
Surround by creative people from a young age, and driven by a need for perfection, the leap from graphic design to cake artistry was a way to prove to herself that sugar was simply another medium waiting to be mastered. Heidi’s eye for timeless style, and passion for color, form and texture give her an edge, and are constantly put to work creating stunning pieces every day. Her minimalistic, clean and contemporary design ideals have tailored a classic design aesthetic that is evident in her portfolio.
Ever the entrepreneur, Heidi immediately recognized that her cake-making hobby was quickly becoming a growing business, and as she perfected her craft, her cakes began to get noticed. Royal Baby Shower in French Blue Cake (January 2016), doubled followers on De la Crème Studio’s Facebook page. Fuzzy Monkey Cake (March 2015), went viral with over 400,000 views, and Stunning Louis Vuitton Luggage Cake (November 2015) was shared over 12,000 times across several social media platforms. Her work has been featured in several magazines including, but not limited to, Southern Bride (Winter/Spring 2016), Cake Craft & Decoration (June 2015) and The Cake Blog (January 2015).
