Catherine Beddall is a pastry chef, cake designer and college pastry arts instructor based in Ottawa, Canada.
Even though she has loved to bake from a young age, she never considered it as a career until recently. For a number of years, Catherine worked as a graphic designer, while making cakes as a small side business. She finally decided to “take the plunge” and make baking and pastry her full-time career by enrolling in Algonquin College’s Baking and Pastry Arts program. In school, Catherine was able to build a solid base in baking theory and graduated in June of 2013.
Although the majority of Catherine’s cake designs and decorating skills are self-taught, acquired over years of practice, everyday she becomes increasingly passionate about improving her skills and finding new ways to express her creativity through sugar.
She now splits her time between her cake business, Catherine Beddall Edible Art, and teaching in the baking and pastry arts program at Algonquin College, and working at an Ottawa bakery.
